CONSTITUTION COMICS: Classrooms can celebrate Constitution Day on Sept. 17, with a special NIE section in the state-schools edition of The Patriot-News. Available at NO COST through sponsorship by the Pennsylvania State Education Association, Constitution Comics is a 12-page tabloid. Science fiction meets civic engagement on a newly inhabited planet called Glory. Beings from other planets converge and when individual rights prevail, the fun of freedom deteriorates into chaos. Human beings Dan and Ann recall a time long ago in America when a Constitution was created, democracy initiated and governance results with freedom and order. Appropriate for elementary and middle school students, Constitution Comics could be used by high school social studies teachers. E-mail nie@patriot-news.com or phone 717-255-4100, to order while limited sponsorship funding is available.
